Tax collector’s office seeks mural name suggestions

“What’s in a name?” Shakespeare once asked. “License plates” is not the typical response, but it would be appropriate for the new mural that Alachua County Tax Collector John Power is seeking to name.

Power’s office has announced a contest to name its recently unveiled alligator mural, which is made from repurposed license plates.

The mural is displayed at the tax collector’s office in downtown Gainesville.

Alachua County residents can submit their suggestions online here.

All submissions must be registered by midnight on Sunday, January 31, 2021. The winner will receive a goody bag and public recognition, according to a county press release.
