1 dead, 5 injured in single-vehicle rollover on I-75 in Gainesville

A 33-year-old Beverly Hills man died and five passengers were injured when their SUV rolled over Monday afternoon near the Interstate 75 southbound Williston Road exit.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 33-year-old Beverly Hills man was driving his SUV southbound on I-75 near mile marker 382 at 5:35 p.m. when the vehicle rolled over. Six occupants were in the SUV — all from Beverly Hills.

Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead on scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Two other passengers are in critical condition — a 30-year-old female, also reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, and a 6-year-old girl. A 13-year-old boy is in serious condition and an 8-year-old girl and 5-year-old girl sustained minor injuries.

This is an active investigation by the FHP Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit. FHP was assisted by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Alachua Fire Rescue and Gainesville Police Department.
