Two Cross City men died when the sedan they were in failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 340 and US Highway 129 north of Bell and collided with a tractor-trailer on Thursday afternoon.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 27-year-old Cross City man was driving a sedan east on CR 340 at 4:15 p.m. when he failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of a northbound tractor-trailer on US 129.
Emergency responders pronounced the driver and his passenger, a 36-year-old Cross City man, dead on scene.
The 58-year-old Lake City man driving the tractor-trailer did not sustain injuries.
