Three people died in a 21-vehicle vehicle accident on I-75 in Columbia County early Sunday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the multi-vehicle collision occurred around 12:40 a.m. at the northbound Lake City/High Springs 414 exit ramp. The roadway was closed for several hours to clear the wreckage and an FHP investigation is ongoing.
The FHP released a limited report Sunday evening and more details are forthcoming.
“One of the vehicles involved was a Greyhound bus, and I understand it was loaded with passengers,” FHP spokesman Pat Riordan said in a phone interview Monday morning. “Since there were three people killed, we are doing a homicide investigation. I would imagine it’s going to be very lengthy due to the number of vehicles, the number of persons involved, and the enormous amount of information our investigators have to gather.”
