Two abducted Missouri children missing since last year were located with their non-custodial mother on Wednesday.

According to a High Springs Police Department (HSPD) press release, officers located Adrian Gilley, 12, and Brooke Gilley, 11, along with their mother, Kristi Gilley, 36. The two children have been missing since March 15, 2022, from Clay County, Missouri.

HSPD officers conducted a routine vehicle tag check in the Winn Dixie parking lot at 5:17 p.m. that indicated the vehicle owner was a fugitive. They located the three shopping inside the store and Kristi gave a false name to disguise their identities.

Officers arrested Kristi on an active felony kidnapping warrant out of Clay County that was issued on July 13, 2022.

The children were turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services and will be reunited with their family in Missouri, according to HSPD.

The HSPD release said the two children and their abductor were passing through the area and had no ties to Alachua County.

“Proactive policing paid great dividends in this case, thanks to the job of our patrol officers, and we are grateful that these children will be returned home safely,” HSPD Chief Antoine Sheppard said in a statement.
