A Fort White woman died and three children were injured when her vehicle traveled off State Road 47, hit a tree and overturned Friday morning north of Fort White.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 28-year-old Fort White woman was driving a 1996 Toyota north on SR 47 at 8:10 a.m. near Chastain Gln when the vehicle traveled off the road onto the east shoulder before returning to the road for a short distance. The driver then overcorrected, causing the sedan to travel off the east shoulder where it collided with a tree and overturned onto its roof.

Emergency responders transported all passengers to UF Shands Hospital, which included an 8-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl – both in serious condition – and an infant boy with minor injuries.
