Come enjoy the recent improvements!
The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places Program and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are pleased to announce that ADA improvements to the community plaza are complete. The work included leveling uneven walking surfaces and adding bricked pedestrian areas to expand accessibility.Â
Improvements to the plaza were funded with the Wild Spaces & Public Places half-cent sales tax. The approximate cost of the work was $134,000.
Additional bike amenities are coming to the plaza soon!
A new bike repair station and air pump will soon be located on the east side of the plaza by the Alachua County Civil Courthouse building. Additional bike racks accommodating up to 32 bikes are also being installed throughout the plaza. The approximate cost for the improvements is $6,600.
The Wild Spaces & Public Places sales tax will continue to create, improve and maintain parks and recreational facilities and acquire and improve environmentally-sensitive lands. To sign up for updates, please visit www.WildSpacesPublicPlacesGNV.org.
