Months after Gainesville residents reported him missing, Adam Rosenthal, 39, was arrested by Tennessee law enforcement last week for murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.
Rosenthal, who ran for mayor in 2022, is scheduled for a court hearing on Dec. 10 for the three separate counts. He is being held in the Giles County Jail. The arrests are in connection to the death of Darren Gambrel, whose body was found on the eastern edge of Pulaski, Tennessee.
The Pulaski Citizen reports that the property where the body was found is used by the religious group the Twelve Tribes, and the Giles County sheriff said both men were associated with the group.
In Gainesville, Rosenthal worked in technical support/customer service, living off NW 13th Street. He ran for mayor in 2022 in a crowded race and earned 236 votes.
According to AP News from a 2016 story, the Twelve Tribes was started in the early 1970s and has expanded over the world. The group has an estimated 2,000-3,000 members “who live a ‘tribal life’ in different geographical areas of the world, ‘so as to be a demonstration of how God has always wanted His people to live.’”
