Paul Myers, Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County, says anyone who wants to take a COVID-19 test can call the department to schedule one.
“If anyone wants to get tested, if they would just call 352-334-8810, we’ll set up an appointment and we’ll get them tested,” he said.
Myers said the CDC came out Tuesday with revised guidance, and he needed to get the go ahead before he was able to open up testing to all.
“I was waiting for direction from the Florida Department of Health in Tallahassee,” said Myers. “We received that on Saturday, so we went ahead and opened up on Sunday.”
The test is a COVID-19 swab only type, and is not the antibody test, which requires a blood sample. It can take between two to seven days for test results to be delivered.
