An Ohio duo on a motorcycle crashed in Alachua County Wednesday afternoon while travelling south on County Road 231.
The driver, a 67-year-old man from Mentor, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 74-year-old female also from Mentor, sustained critical injuries and was transported to UF Health.
Florida Highway Patrol reports that the driver drifted into the right shoulder where he lost control and the motorcycle flipped.
The reports notes that the woman was wearing a helmet but lists the driver’s helmet status as unknown.
