Bicyclist hit on 13th Street, driver flees

A bicyclist sustained serious injuries after getting hit by a vehicle Wednesday night around 7:06 p.m. near the intersection of NW 13th Street and NW 16th Avenue.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) press release, the driver failed to stop and assist the cyclist, taking off westbound on NW 16th Avenue. GPD reports that the cyclist is in critical condition.

The vehicle, a black newer model GM sports utility vehicle, is missing its passenger-side mirror, and GPD requests anyone with information to contact Officer Neal at 352-373-7744.
