Firefighters contained a blaze that ignited at a residential building on SW 69th Terrace in Gainesville early Sunday morning.
According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, crews from ACFR and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded at 4:57 a.m. to the report of a residential building fire off SW 69th Terrace.
When crews arrived, they found fire and heavy smoke on the first floor extending to the second floor. Firefighters limited the blaze to the unit of origin. No injuries were reported and no other homes or structures were affected.
According to the release, a considerable amount of damage occurred due to the home being a “hoarder residence.”
ACFR wanted to remind the public to keep entryways and exits clear of debris to allow occupants to exit quickly and safely during an emergency.
