Body found off SW 13th Street

The body of a dead man was discovered inside a tent on Friday in a wooded area in the 5000 block of SW 13th Street in Gainesville.

According to Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) spokesperson Capt. Chris Sims, the body is believed to be that of a homeless man.

“Detectives have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, but that there is no foul play suspected at this time,” Sims said in an email reply. “We are awaiting the results of an autopsy.”
