A 15-year-old Branford girl and a 66-year-old Fort White man died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning on US Highway 441 in Columbia County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Branford girl was driving a sedan west on Country Road 240 (SE Myrtis Road) at 11:20 a.m. when she approached the intersection at US Highway 441. She failed to yield the right of way to a pickup traveling south on US 441 being driven by a 20-year-old Lake Butler man. The pickup collided with the left side of the sedan.

Emergency responders pronounced the Branford girl and her passenger from Fort White dead on scene. The pickup driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Probably learning to drive and passenger was assisting her. Very sad. Prayers for all the family.
