Branford woman dies in 2-vehicle collision on US 90

An 83-year-old Branford woman died in a two-vehicle collision on US Highway 90 in Columbia County on Thursday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, an 81-year-old Lake City woman was driving an SUV westbound on US 90 at 11:48 a.m. and the Branford woman was driving a van southbound on NW Noegel Road when she attempted to make a left onto US 90 to travel eastbound.

The Branford driver entered the Lake City driver’s right of way, causing the SUV to strike the left side of the van.

Emergency responders pronounced the Branford woman dead on scene. The Lake City woman was airlifted to UF Health Shands in Gainesville and is in serious condition.
