Breaking News: Record high daily COVID-19 cases for Florida reaches 3,207

 TALLAHASSEE —The Florida Department of Health reported 3,207 new positive COVID-19 cases today, June 18th.

Test results for more than 32,300 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Wednesday, June 17 according to the daily DOH data report issued at 11 a.m. 

The results represent 3,178 Florida residents and 29 non-Florida residents. There were 43 Florida resident deaths related to COVID-19.

The positivity rate was 8.8 percent for the new cases which dropped from the 10.4 daily percent positivity rate reported for the June 16th batch of tests.

Florida’s overall positivity rate is now 5.7 percent.

According to the Alachua County COVID-19 Recovery Dashboard, 20 new cases were reported on June 18th taking the total cases to 600. There is also one new fatality reported and the positivity rate for Alachua County is at 1.85 percent with average hospital occupancy at 78.46 percent.

Florida’s total positive case count is now at 85,926.
