Car hits school bus, sedan on Newberry Road

A school bus was involved in a three-vehicle accident Friday morning along State Road 222 (Newberry Road) and NW 143rd Street.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, a 20-year-old man driving a Toyota sedan east on Newberry Road just west of NW 143rd Street at 7:45 a.m. when it veered into the westbound lane. The sedan struck the left rear side of a Nissan sedan being driven by a 37-year-old Gainesville woman before striking the left rear side of a school bus being driven by a 41-year-old Gainesville man.

The Alachua County school bus had nine juvenile passengers on board, and none were injured.

Emergency responders transported one adult passenger from the school bus to North Florida Hospital with minor injuries.
