Chiefland man, 23, killed and 2 injured in Levy County crash

A 23-year-old Chiefland man was killed when he was ejected from his vehicle, and two passengers were injured on Tuesday in Levy County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Chiefland man was driving s sedan northbound on US 27 Alt just south of the NW 10th Avenue intersection east of Chiefland at 4:29 p.m. when the vehicle traveled off the road and overturned multiple times and struck a tree.

The driver was ejected and emergency responders pronounced him dead on scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

The passengers included a 24-year-old Old Town woman who was seriously injured and a 2-year-old girl who is in critical condition. The woman was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and the child was in a child restraint. Both were transported to a nearby hospital.
