“Chomp The Block” parties return

The popular “Chomp The Block” UF football home game parties will return this Friday at Celebration Pointe.

Designated by UF as the ‘official block party of the Florida Gators,’ the Friday-evening pre-game pep-rally will include the Gators spirit squad, along with food, drinks, live music, and games.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with GameDay Vodka and UF Athletics for the return of these spirited block parties, which Celebration Pointe guests greatly enjoyed before the pandemic,” Sean McIntosh, Celebration Pointe vice president of asset management, said in a statement. “The Celebration Pointe City Walk promenade is a perfect location for these events with its open layout and pedestrian-only accessibility, and the block parties are a perfect fit with our branded theme: Where Gators Come to Celebrate.”

The first event is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, before the season opener on Saturday, Sept. 4, as UF hosts Florida Atlantic. It will include Celebration Pointe restaurants, food trucks, and child-friendly games, such as a bounce house, a face painter and a balloon animal maker. Musical artists include Cliff Dorsey and the band Little Jake and the Soul Searchers.

In addition to “Chomp The Block” parties, Celebration Pointe hosts Gator Talk radio shows with UF football and basketball coaches at the newly opened Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille by former UF Gators football coach and Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier.

Single-game UF tickets, if still available, will be sold at the Friday event. Celebration Pointe is also a Gator Aider game-day location park-and-ride venue to and from UF football games.
