Collision with power pole kills female driver, 82, in Lake City

An 82-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon after her Honda Odyssey collided with a concrete power pole near the intersection of North Marion Avenue and NW Long Street in Lake City.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers responded to the vehicle crash on North Marion Avenue around 1:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the 2022 Honda Odyssey with front-end damage after it collided with a concrete power pole.

Columbia County Emergency Services transported the driver from the scene and she was then taken by air ambulance to a nearby trauma center, where she later died from her injuries.  

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the driver during this difficult time,” stated Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler in the release. “We appreciate the patience of our citizens while officers and emergency personnel worked to safely investigate and clear the scene.”
