COVID-19 hospitalizations and fatalities continue to increase in Florida

The Florida Department of Health reported 9,785 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 379,619 cases as of the July 21st report. It was the second straight day that less than 10,000 cases were reported.

The FDOH also reported 92,748 new tests from Monday. The positive rate was 10.55% of the total, according to the report.

Here is a breakdown of the new coronavirus cases reported by the state for the past 10 days:

Statewide hospitalizations are at 22,243, an increase of 463. It is the second highest daily increase in hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Yesterday was the highest report, with 517. The state is now releasing numbers on currently hospitalized patients, and as of 11 am, there were 9,492 people hospitalized throughout the state with COVID-19 as their primary diagnosis.

5,345 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 139 over the day before. This is the highest total of fatalities since July 16th, when 156 deaths were reported.

Gilchrist County is at 277 – up 11 from yesterday
Columbia County is at 1,536 – up 80 from yesterday.
Levy County is at 414 – up 16 from yesterday.
Bradford County is at 205 – up 7 from yesterday.

Archer 53 – up 2 from yesterday.
Hawthorne 36 – up 2 from yesterday.
High Springs 47 – up 3 from yesterday.
