One Fort White woman died and three other Fort White people were injured Saturday in a two-vehicle collision.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, an 88-year-old Fort White woman was driving a sedan north on US Highway 27 at 2:25 p.m. when she entered the left turn lane to go onto County Road 138 between Fort White and High Springs. She turned in front of an SUV being driven by a 71-year-old Fort White man driving southbound on US 27 carrying a 68-year-old Fort White woman and a 5-year-old Fort White girl.

The man swerved his SUV to the right attempting to avoid the crash but was unable to avoid the sedan. Both vehicles struck, resulting in the SUV rotating in a clockwise direction and overturning multiple times before coming to a stop upright in a ditch facing southeast.

While overturning, the 68-year-old Fort White female passenger was ejected from the SUV. Emergency responders pronounced her dead on scene.
