Cross City bicyclist dies in hit-and-run

A tractor-trailer struck and killed a 55-year-old Cross City woman riding her bicycle on US Highway 19 on Monday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the bicyclist was riding a pink bicycle south in the outside lane of US Hwy 19 around 2:40 a.m. near NE 124th Avenue when she was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Emergency responders transported the woman to UF Shands where she was pronounced deceased.

An unknown make and model tractor-trailer fled the scene and FHP investigators are asking for information regarding the driver or the vehicle involved.

I believe she has been identified as to begin with I was given a name that was wrong.

But in case I’m wrong you should call crimestoppers 800-387-1290 or call the Dixie County jail at 352-498-1231 and ask for the Investigator to call you back
