Cross City man dies in 2-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle collision on US Highway 19 killed a Cross City man and seriously injured a Madison woman in Dixie County on Saturday evening.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 45-year-old Madison woman was driving a Jeep southbound in the northbound inside lane of US 19 at 9:50 p.m. and drove directly into the path of a 54-year-old Cross City man driving a Chevrolet pickup northbound in the northbound inside lane. The crash happened near SW 316th Avenue west of Cross City.

Emergency responders pronounced the Cross City man dead on scene and the Madison woman was airlifted to UF Health Shands with serious injuries. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt, according to the FHP.
