Dixie County dump truck accident critically injures Steinhatchee man

A 50-year-old Steinhatchee man was critically injured Monday morning when the dump truck he was driving overturned in Dixie County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving a 2007 Mack dump truck loaded with lime rock south on NE 538th Street at 9:15 a.m. when the truck traveled off the roadway onto the right shoulder.

The driver attempted to steer the truck back onto the pavement, but the vehicle overturned onto its left side in the northbound lane of NE 538th St.

Emergency responders transported the man to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville where he is in critical condition.
