A person was killed late Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on NW 16th Avenue near NW 35th Terrace in Gainesville.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release sent Monday, the person was driving a Cadillac west on NW 16th Avenue at a high rate of speed and tried to pass another vehicle before losing control.
The Cadillac travelled south through a grass median, struck a tree and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in foliage west of NW 35th Terrace on the south side of the road.
Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead on scene. GPD reported the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
Rest In Peace, sir or madam.
Thank God he didn’t kill someone else by the erratic driving.
