An unknown driver rear-ended a Levy County school bus Friday morning and then fled the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported Friday afternoon.

According to an FHP press release, this morning around 7:15 a.m. a white sedan was following a school bus near the intersection of County Road 346A and NW 70th Avenue. The 68-year-old driver of the bus missed the pickup point for a student and was attempting to back up on County Road 346A when the bus and car collided.

FHP said the white sedan was damaged but fled the scene and remains at large.
