A 61-year-old Bell man is in serious condition after his dump truck blew a tire while driving south on SR 247 in Columbia County and crashed into a tree on Tuesday.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was driving a 1995 Ford LTLS 9000 dump truck south on SR 247 south of SW Allison Terrace at 1:15 p.m. when the left front tire blew out. The truck travelled off the east shoulder where it struck a tree.
Emergency responders transported the driver to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
