According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Earleton man was driving a sedan south on County Road 1469 when he approached a stop sign at the intersection of CR 219A at 4:57 a.m. He then pulled out in front of a 38-year-old Clearwater man driving a tractor-trailer traveling north on CR 219A.

The tractor-trailer struck the right side of the sedan and both vehicles traveled north of CR 1469 and came to a rest on the east grass shoulder of CR 219A.

Emergency responders reported that the man driving the sedan died and the man driving the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries.
