East Gainesville shooting injures boy

An East Gainesville shooting left one boy injured on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Sunday along a sidewalk near the 1500 block of NE 23rd Avenue, according to Gainesville Police Department (GPD) spokesperson Graham Glover in an email.

After the victim was shot, he entered a store at 1524 NE 23rd Avenue to call 911. He had non-life-threatening injuries, reported the GPD. The suspect is described as a thin-build black male.

GPD officers recovered shell casings on the sidewalk, and the investigation is ongoing.

WCJB reported a young boy was on his bicycle with a teenager walking beside him when a second teenager confronted the two, an argument ensued, with the second teenager pulling out a gun and firing five shots, hitting the young boy.
