This is such a dangerous intersection!!! There are frequently serious crashes here. There really needs to be a street light here! The residents of Fletchers Mill have been requesting one for years.
Wishing those injured a quick recovery.
How many accidents need to occur at this intersection before we get a traffic light? Praying for the families impacted in this Terrible accident.
This is a dangerous area because cars can disappear in the hill and people will pull out thinking it is clear. The on coming car can’t stop 50mph speed limit.
The traffic pattern on this stretch of Newberry really needs to be reevaluated. There’s been so many accidents here, and they’re only getting more frequent.
It is almost disgraceful that this issue has not been addressed by Gainesville or Alachua at this point. This has to be the most dangerous ‘intersection’ in the city. I have 2 little kids and I dread every time they are in a car leaving Fletcher’s Mill. Something has to be done here. How many more of these accidents can we accept? Do SOMETHING Gainesville.
Several years ago DOT was contacted. As I recall, Some know it all in Lake City stated there would never be a traffic light installed at this intersection. If somehow he is still employed , he needs to reconsider, or be replaced. The dangers at this intersection has gotten a lot worse with all the apartments added in Jonesville. Of course the existing failed County Commissioner’s are absent as usual with excuses. If they can’t help us , even if they don’t control this road, replace them this election with someone who cares. I never though I would support a 35 MPH speed limit on a 4 lane highway, but that would be a quick fix in the right direction for the careless drivers that risk life an limb daily on this speedway.
This is a State Road; contact FL DOT with concerns. I don’t think the city or county has the authority to install traffic lights on a state road.
Read my Post. It point’s out it is a DOT issue. I just would think the Do Nothing County Commissioner’s could stand up and represent us. Or dose the State of Florida and Governor have to step in like they did to save GRU? One useless County commissioner has publicly stated he has nothing to do with the westside of the county. I guess there always Morgan and Morgan where nobody is a nobody.
