FHP: Drunk driver kills pedestrian on Millhopper

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) arrested an allegedly drunk driver who hit and killed a pedestrian who was walking near the Millhopper Road I-75 overpass on Tuesday evening.

According to the FHP, a 44-year-old Robert Duncan of Newberry was driving his pickup west along County Road 232 (Millhopper Road) just east of the I-75 overpass around 7 p.m. when he hit a 27-year-old Palatka man.

Emergency responders pronounced the Palatka man dead at the scene. The Wednesday morning report said the victim’s family had not been notified.

According to FHP spokesperson Lt. Patrick Riordan, Duncan was arrested for DUI manslaughter and felony DUI. It was his third conviction in 10 years.
