Fire singes SkyFrog Tree Service

Key Points

Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) battled a blaze at SkyFrog Tree Service overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning.

About 30 GFR firefighters dispatched to the fire at the two-story metal-framed building located at 2546 NW 74th Place in north Gainesville. It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

“We are super happy with the crews, especially with a night fire,” GFR spokesman Joseph Hillhouse said in an interview. “There’s a lot of times that they don’t get noticed for a while, and this place is back off the road a way, and the fire had a big headstart on us.”

It was initially thought to be an electrically-caused fire, but Hillhouse said the investigation is still underway.

Multiple crews from GFR stations 5, 7, 1, 8, and HazMat 2 battled the fire located at 2546 NW 74th Place and were able to stop it in the front office, according to a GFR report. No occupants were in the building and it was contained before it moved to the adjacent vehicle bays where heavy equipment was being stored.
