A Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) firefighter is in stable condition after he was injured Friday morning battling a residential fire on SW 8th Drive.

According to a GFR release, multiple units responded to a fire located at 2620 SW 8th Dr. around 10:17 a.m. The fire started in the garage but was brought under control and is now extinguished.

During the operation, the firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital.
