Firefighters from multiple units extinguished an electrical fire in a residential Newberry home on Sunday afternoon.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from Newberry Fire Rescue, High Springs Fire Rescue and ACFR responded to a residential structure fire at 2:10 p.m. located in the 17000 block of NW 40th Place.

Upon arrival, crews found a working fire in the two-story residential structure with dark, heavy smoke coming from the doors and eves. Firefighters kept the blaze contained to the room of origin.

Fire damage was limited to the laundry room and it was found that the cause was electrical in nature.

No one was injured in the fire.
