Florida adds 8,935 new COVID-19 positive cases

The Florida Department of Health reported 8,935 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 232,718 cases as of the July 8th report.

The FDOH also reported 48,586 new tests from Wednesday. The positive rate was 18.39% of the total, according to the report.

Here is a breakdown of the new coronavirus cases reported by the state each day for the past 10 days:
  • June 28: 8,530
  • June 29: 5,266
  • June 30: 6,093
  • July 1:    6,535
  • July 2:    10,109
  • July 3:    9,488
  • July 4:    11,455
  • July 5:    10,059
  • July 6:     6,336
  • July 7:     7,347
  • July 8:     9,989
  • July 9:     8,935

Statewide hospitalizations­­­ are at 17,167 an increase of 409. The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” COVID-19 patients, or those currently hospitalized.

4,009 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 120 over the day before.

Alachua County is at 1,871  – up 79 from yesterday.

Gilchrist County 124 – up 5 from yesterday

Columbia County 421  – up 29 from yesterday.

Levy County 239 – waiting on update.

Bradford County 113 – up 10 from yesterday.

In Alachua County towns:

Alachua/LaCrosse/Worthington Springs 94 – down 6 from yesterday.

Archer 29 – up 1 from yesterday.

Hawthorne 18 – no change from yesterday.

High Springs 32 – no change from yesterday.

Micanopy 9 – up 1 from yesterday.

Newberry 77 – up 3 from yesterday.

Waldo 8  – no change from yesterday.
