Florida breaks US single day record for positive COVID-19 cases reported with 15,300

The Florida Department of Health reported 15,300 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 269,811 cases as of the July 11th report.

 It was the highest single-day reported in Florida by the DOH since the pandemic began. Florida has also broken New York State’s single-day record of 12,847 new cases on April 10th when it was the epicenter of the US outbreak.

The FDOH also reported 142,981 new tests from Saturday. The positive rate was 11.25% of the total, according to the report.

Statewide hospitalizations­­­ are at 18,271 an increase of 248. The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” COVID-19 patients, or those currently hospitalized.

4,242 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 45 over the day before.

Alachua County is at 2,098  – up 55 from yesterday.
Gilchrist County is at 135  – up 1 from yesterday
Columbia County is at 475 – up 13 from yesterday.
Levy County is at 274 – up 19 from yesterday.
Bradford County is at 133 – up 3 from yesterday.
 
In Alachua County towns:
Alachua/LaCrosse/Worthington Springs 115 – up 14 from yesterday.
Archer 37 – up 2 from yesterday.
Hawthorne  21 – up 1 from yesterday.
High Springs 36 – up 2  from yesterday.
Micanopy 12 – up 1  from yesterday.
Newberry 86  – up 1 from yesterday.
Waldo 8  – no change from yesterday.
