Florida crosses 100,000 positive COVID-19 cases

The Florida Department of Health confirms that there are now more than 100,000 positive cases reported in Florida and that includes 2,926 new COVID-19 cases reported on June 22nd.

The latest overnight results come from 37,100 individuals, according to the DOH.

The 2,926 new positive COVID-19 cases are made up of 2,908 Florida residents and 18 non-Florida residents. There are 12 new COVID-19 related deaths also reported. The positivity rate for this batch of tests is 7.74%.

There are a total of 100,217 Florida cases with 3,173 deaths related to COVID-19.

Since data reported at 11 a.m. on June 21, the deaths of twelve Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Orange, Pinellas and Seminole counties.

Alachua County reports 738 cases with 22 new cases and a cumulative 11 deaths as of noon on June 22nd according to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard. The positivity rate continues to rise reaching 2.07%. To date, 35,659 tests have been administered in Alachua County.

The Average Hospital Occupancy rate for Alachua County is 74.41 percent as reported by the Alachua County dashboard representing, “ The percentage of hospital beds which are currently occupied in Alachua County’s four main hospitals.”  https://dashboards.alachuacounty.us/COVID19/

Small towns in Alachua County continue to add to their case count. On June 22nd the totals are: High Springs 13, City of Alachua 35, Newberry 33, La Crosse 25, Archer 9, Waldo 7, Hawthorne 8 and Micanopy less than 5.
