Florida drops to 5,266 new positive COVID-19 cases

The Florida Department of Health has reported 5,266 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 146,341 cases as of the June 28th report.

Here’s a breakdown of the new coronavirus cases reported by the state each day for the past 10 days:

  • June 20: 4,049
  • June 21: 3,494
  • June 22: 2,926 
  • June 23: 3,286
  • June 24: 5,508
  • June 25: 5,004
  • June 26: 8,942
  • June 27: 9,585
  • June 28: 8,530
  • June 29: 5,266

Statewide hospitalizations­­­ are at 14,354, an increase of 218. The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” COVID-19 patients, or those currently hospitalized.

13.67% of the new cases tested positive in the June 28th report, based on 41,626 tests.

3,447 people have died from the virus, an increase of 28 over the day before.

Here are the figures locally for total positive tests:

Alachua County is at 1,159 – up 35 from yesterday.

Gilchrist County  96

Columbia County 281 – up 12 from yesterday.

Levy County 173 – up two from yesterday.

In Alachua County towns:

Alachua/LaCrosse/Worthington Springs 49 – up one from yesterday.

Archer 14 – same as yesterday.

Hawthorne 11 – up two from yesterday.

High Springs 19 – no change.

Micanopy 6 – no change.

Newberry 48 – up two from yesterday.

Waldo 7 – no change.
