Florida reports 2,258 new COVID-19 cases; lowest since June 15th

The Florida Department of Health reported 2,258 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 602,829 cases as of the August 23rd report. 

The FDOH also reported a positivity rate was 5.2% of the total of tests that had not tested before, according to the report. Since July 16th, the positivity rate has stayed below 15%.

10,534 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 72.

When the FDOH reports a death in the daily update, the number encompasses several days, with actual days of death occurring weeks prior in some cases.

IN total, 36,596 people in Florida that have been hospitalized at some point during the coronavirus pandemic.

Across Florida, 4,658 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as their primary diagnosis as of 11 am.
