The Florida Department of Health reported 4,115 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 584,047 cases as of the August 18th report.Â
The FDOH also reported 27,352 new tests from Monday. The positivity rate was 7.08% of the total of tests that had not tested before, according to the report. Since July 16th, the positivity rate has stayed below 15%.
9,932 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 174.
When the FDOH reports a death in the daily update, the number encompasses several days, with actual days of death occurring weeks prior in some cases.
605 new hospitalizations were reported Tuesday, bringing the total to 34,695 people in Florida that have been hospitalized at some point during the coronavirus pandemic.
Across Florida, 5,351 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as their primary diagnosis as of 11 am.
