Florida reports 6,352 new cases of COVID-19

The Florida Department of Health reported 6,352 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 569,637 cases as of the August 14th report. 

The FDOH also reported 41,640 new tests from Friday. The positivity rate was 7.71% of the total of tests that had not tested before, according to the report. Since July 16th, the positivity rate has stayed below 15%.

9,480 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 204.

When the FDOH reports a death in the daily update, the number encompasses several days, with actual days of death occurring weeks prior in some cases.

506 new hospitalizations were reported Friday, bringing the total to 33,661 people in Florida that have been hospitalized at some point during the coronavirus pandemic. It follows the highest day of hospitalizations reported since the pandemic began – 638. 

Across Florida, 5,693 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of 11 am.
