Gainesville activates Cold Night Shelter Program

With cold temperatures forecasted for Thursday through Saturday, the city of Gainesville will activate its Cold Night Shelter (CNS) Program.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), anticipated temperatures will fall to 43 degrees on Thursday night, 35 degrees on Friday, 34 degrees on Saturday and 40 degrees on Sunday.

The CNS Program goes into effect when overnight low temperatures dip below 45 degrees.

Both GRACE Marketplace at the Empowerment Center and the St. Francis House provide CNS services to people who need shelter when the temperature drops below 45 degrees.

GRACE primarily serves individual adults while the St. Francis House provides temporary shelter appropriate for families, women and children.
