Firefighters battled an NW 16th Street apartment fire and an NW 18th Place residential home fire on Thursday evening.
According to a Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) release, the first fire broke out at 5:54 p.m. at 300 NW 16th St. in a second-floor apartment. Firefighters accessed the apartment and evacuated all occupants before extinguishing the blaze within 10 minutes of arrival.
The second fire occurred at 4410 NW 18th Place in the Suburban Heights neighborhood. Fire crews were dispatched at 10:50 p.m. and, upon arrival, found a significant fire load at the residential home.
Firefighters searched for victims while applying water to the blaze. A total of 18 firefighters responded to extinguish the fire.
According to the release, no firefighters or civilians were injured in either fire.
