Gainesville Fire Rescue extricates driver from two-car crash on Williston Road

The Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) responded to a collission involving two vehicles Monday afternoon on Williston Road.

At 1:18 pm, the Combined Communications Center (CCC) received several 911 calls regarding a two-car motor vehicle crash. The callers reported that one person was entrapped inside of their vehicle at the I-75 Off ramp and Williston Rd.

GFR units Ladder truck 9, Ladder truck 2, District 1 responded along with Alachua County Fire Rescue Engine 80 and Rescue Transport 23. ACFR Engine 80 and Ladder truck 9, arrived on scene within minutes of being dispatched and confirmed one vehicle was on top of the other with one person entrapped.

 GFR District 1 arrived on the scene and established incident command. GFR Ladder truck 9 began extricating a conscious and alert female driver out of the vehicle. Crews were able to free the patient from the car within 20 minutes of the initial call. ACFR Transport Rescue 23 transported one patient to Shands Hospital with non life-threating injuries. The Gainesville Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
