Gainesville man, 22, dies in motorcycle crash on SW 45th Street

A 22-year-old Gainesville man was killed when his motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on SW 45th Street and collided with a light pole on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle south on SW 45th Street just south of SW 36th Road (SW Archer Road) at 1:05 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, entered the median, ran over several shrubs and collided with a light pole.

Emergency responders transported him to UF Health Shands Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
