Gainesville man, 23, dies when ejected from motorcycle, hit by truck

A 23-year-old Gainesville man died early Wednesday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle, was ejected and then was hit by a tanker truck on SW Archer Road.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man was riding his motorcycle westbound on SW Archer Road (State Road 24) in the left lane just east of SW 56th Terrace at 2:40 a.m. when he lost control of his bike, was ejected and thrown into the path of a tanker truck. The tanker truck, being driven by a 44-year-old Gainesville man, was traveling westbound on SW Archer Road in the right lane.

Emergency responders pronounced the motorcycle rider dead on scene.
