Gainesville man, 33, dies in 2-vehicle collision on SW Archer Road

A 33-year-old Gainesville man died when a sedan turned in front of his motorcycle on SW Archer Road (State Road 24) in Gainesville on Wednesday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 72-year-old Gainesville man driving a sedan eastbound on SW Archer Road at 6:57 a.m. started making a left turn into a business driveway at SW 48th Drive. He pulled in front of the oncoming motorcycle traveling westbound on SW Archer Road, reportedly at a high rate of speed, and the motorcycle struck the right front side of the sedan.

Emergency responders pronounced the Gainesville man riding the motorcycle dead on scene and transported the Gainesville man driving the sedan to UF Health Emergency Center-Kanapaha with minor injuries.
