Gainesville man dies in 2-vehicle collision in Marion County

A 43-year-old Gainesville man was killed and an 81-year-old Ocala woman is in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision in Marion County on Wednesday.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Ocala woman was driving an SUV west in the westbound left turn lane of US Highway 27 and attempting to turn left onto NW 60th Avenue at 8:15 p.m. The Gainesville man, driving a sedan, was traveling east in the inside eastbound lane of US Highway 27 and was approaching NW 60th Avenue. The Ocala driver turned left and the Gainesville man’s sedan collided with the right side of the SUV.

Emergency responders pronounced the Gainesville man dead on scene and transported the Ocala woman to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.
