Gainesville motorcyclist dies after collision with SUV

A 20-year-old motorcycle driver from Gainesville died after a collision with an SUV at the corner of W. Newberry Road and SW 170th Street in Jonesville Tuesday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the driver of a 2016 Kia Sorrento was traveling west on State Road 26 (Newberry Road). The driver of a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling east on State Road 26.

At the intersection of CR 241 (SW 170th Street) the SUV driver made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, which struck the right front of the SUV, according to the FHP.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The FHP did not identify either the motorcycle driver or the 64-year-old female driver of the SUV, who is from Williston.
